In my previous corporate life, ‘research’ was a given as part of my job. While I do a lot of ‘research’ now, which consists of surfing the web, spending inexorbitant amounts of time looking at other people’s blogs, reading magazines (aka looking at pictures), etc….but this was definitely the first time that my research had me looking up the significance of the Korean first birthday. While I must admit, I didn’t spend a lot of time, I spent enough time to learn that a Korean child’s first birthday is called ‘tol’ and that there are specific garments that are worn by the child on their first birthday.
This little guy was so fortunate to have his grandmother, visiting from Korea, bring the full Tol wardrobe for his very special day.
The food smelled wonderful and while I was invited to stay, I had to scoot to my daughter’s soccer game! I hope the party went well! Thanks for the fabulous rice cakes!
