We have been incredibly lucky with the beautiful weather we’ve been enjoying here in the Pacific NW these past several days. Although it has been cold…it’s been dry…and it doesn’t really get much better than that around this time of the year. Unfortunately, if you like to ski or snowboard…it’s not so great because it means no new snow in the mountains!

So, speaking of good weather, I had the opportunity to photograph another family photo shoot for the holidays. I have the privilege of knowing this family’s mom after becoming regulars at Bethany Athletic Club and looked forward to being able to meet her entire family and see her out of the creature comforts of gym clothing. After a little mix up on where we should meet and having some time to catch up with dad while we waited for the rest of the family, mom and kids showed up completely decked out and ready to go! As with any photo shoot, I try to incorporate something about the person…or in this case, the family, as part of the shoot. Behind every person/family, there’s a story….the title of this post is ‘Party of 7′ and they truly are ’7′. About 6 years ago, their baby sister passed away but remains an integral part of their family & they continually feel her influence in their lives. During this time of the year as families gather to celebrate the holidays, I feel honored to have had the privilege of photographing the Newsom’s and getting a small glimpse of the strong bond and love this family has for each other. I’ve been privileged to know these girls since before one was born….and the other since she was just a tot. Wow! How time flies. When their mom called about getting some quick shots of *A* with her missing two front teeth, I convinced her that she needed to get some photos of both girls together. I was just having a conversation with a client the other day about major milestones…newborn babies, high school seniors, and weddings. However, there are so many more in between. My daughter hasn’t quite lost both front teeth yet but I was quick to make sure I got some photos of her just before her 7th birthday and just before that first wiggly front tooth fell out! I was almost manic about it! And now, just on the verge of losing that other front tooth, I look forward to holiday photos with her two front teeth missing. It’s all these other milestones in between, that when you look back…you can say….”Wow, I’m really happy we have memories of these moments.” These girls were a blast to hang out with….and…again, we were fortunate to stay “dry” during the shoot! enjoy your sneak peek!

I should probably be in bed now getting geared up for tomorrow but I got home, the kids were in bed and my hubby took off for the movies, so, instead of catching up on some other work I should be doing, I decided to download images from my most recent shoot this evening and now, I must post!

Madison is one lucky girl! If I were turning 12, I would have LOVED to have had the birthday festivities she had today. Her mom, one of my fellow workout peeps, treated the girls to a makeover at Blush Beauty Bar and then they got to get their photos taken by me!!! More images coming but I couldn’t wait to get these posted tonight. Enjoy!

Over the past 24 hours, I have somehow either come down with a head cold or as has been suggested by some….allergies. I have was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and have now spent a better portion of my adult life here in Portland. I would love to be able to blame it on allergies but at this point, I’m not sure WHAT exactly it is. But whatever it is, I want it go go away!

Last Friday, somehow, miraculously between 2:00-2:50 pm, it stopped raining. In that amount of time when I met up with these girls we were able to snap off a few really cool shots. This was supposed to be a make up for the older of the two girls but I couldn’t pass up on the really cool colors that I was seeing between the two of them. Here’s your sneak peek! More coming soon!

It’s no secret that I really enjoy photographing tweens. In fact, keep your eyes open for an upcoming post about a special offer I’m working on right now – for this very subject! This post is a follow up on yesterday’s posts and another sneak peek for my friend Carrie and her daughter.
