So I’m told that summer is ending on Friday. Given last weekend’s weather conditions, I think everyone within the Portland metropolitan area was disappointed to see such a fast departure of summer and the quick tease of fall upon us. Fortunately, the sun is back for a while and we had good weather for Annalia’s senior portrait session last week before the rain came. With just a few weeks left to go before the 2011-2012 school season starts, things have gotten busier than ever for senior portraits in Portland! Alli, one of my Model Reps from Westview HS and Hannah, one of my Model Reps from Faith Bible Christian School had asked from the start if they could have their senior pictures taken together. Well, of course, why not? They also asked if there was any possibility that their other best friend from grade school, Sarah, could also be part of their portraits and get a few photos with them since she was visiting from Minnesota. And, of course, I obliged. Although they had planned their wardrobes and outfits they were going to wear in photos together, each of them had some piece of clothing missing from their outfits and in true fashion…they just rolled with the punches and made do with what they had. I had a blast with these girls and look forward to hearing more of their adventures as their senior year unfolds.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a sibling of a former high school senior portrait client from Westview high school. While I’ve meet both of her sisters, Kwynn and her younger sister Kiah, I hadn’t had the chance to meet Keirra. And not only had I not met her before, but when she came in, I thought her sister, Kwynn was a friend. I think I must definitely be getting old because although it has only been a year, I thought Kwynn looked a little older and more grown up to the point that I didn’t recognize her! (I really did mean it when I said you look older – but in a good way!). I had a ton of fun tooling around the urban locations near the studio with the girls. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Meet Mai…our rep from Century High School in Hillsboro, OR. Mai was a blast to work with and up for any challenge we presented her! A few weeks ago, we completed the last photo shoot from my Winter Photo Contest with my Grand Prize Winner, Brenna Greene and her 4 best friends. Brenna’s shoot also pleasantly coincided with a personal side project that I’m working on with film maker John Baldino. We’re thrilled that we had the opportunity to do this project with the group of girls that Brenna brought along and I am looking forward to seeing the final project in it’s completed state. Unfortunately, even though we did have sunny breaks throughout the day, after being inside filming video for several hours, by the time we were able to start shooting, it started to rain! Well, that’s Oregon weather for you! You can’t win ‘em all but we still had fun shooting inside. For now, here’s a quick sneak peek for Brenna and her friends, Carly, Whitney, Elizabeth and Sarah.

Meet our 4th Class of ’11 Senior Model Rep from Westview High School, Jem! While the highs didn’t reach near 70 degrees on the day of Jem’s model rep shoot, we were still able to duck outside for a few quick outdoor shots in between rain last week. Jem brought an awesome wardrobe full of color and texture. We had a blast! She’s got quite a great summer on the horizon, interning for Nike in Manila! A natural leader, she’s also got a load of awesome opportunities ahead of her and her senior year hasn’t even started yet! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Meet Alexxa. Another Class of ’11 Senior Model Rep from Oregon Episcopal School. Alexxa is smart, talented and the camera loves her! Knowing that the Oregon weather was going to change on us before just in time for spring break to end, we headed out last Saturday and caught the last bit of sunshine and also snuck in a little time for some studio shots as well! Alexxa was great at handling my unexpected hiccup with my car battery dying when we decided to head out around the blocks. Fortunately, we just kept the truck idling and were able to snap a few quick creative shots with some off camera flash at the end! Alexxa – it was awesome working with you! Everybody told me when we had our daughter how fast she will grow and all the little idiosyncrasies of the trials and tribulations of parenthood  will seem minimal compared to how fast that little baby will grow into a beautiful girl.
I never really thought about it until recently when I realized what used to be our baby boy is now about to turn 4 years old. This post isn’t meant to embarrass Kendra, but to really highlight the fact that Kendra is one of the main reasons I started getting into senior portraits. I can’t believe that I started photographing her when she was still in middle school and she is now approaching the end of her junior year and embarking on her final year of high school! Wow! Time really does fly! There will be more pictures of Kendra and the rest of my model reps to come in the summer months but I can’t leave this post without expressing a huge thanks to you for being an awesome and willing subject. And to Jill and Kevin, of course, for allowing her to do this. At some point, we will do a photo montage of my test shoots with Kendra over the past several years.
