Summer has officially arrived in Portland! Although, one could probably argue that today since it is overcast and cloudy! However, it’s a miracle year in that we actually had sun on the 4th of July! Along with summer fun, also comes family reunions. This family is no exception! Except that they weren’t gathering for a major holiday, but for a milestone birthday for one of their own! Happy 50th Birthday again Donna! I had a blast! These guys kept me well entertained and laughing during the entire shoot! I’ve had the privilege over the last few weeks to experience major milestones with family friends…from births to high school seniors. It’s been a fun ride watching new beginnings in every walk of life. Gabe also happens to be a personal family friend and I can say, without a doubt, I am proud of the young man he has become. I still am in shock of how big he is now and that he’s playing football, acing his classes AND senior class president! Whew! Where did that little 9 year old kid go? Well Gabe, congratulations! I know it’s been quite an experience for you and we truly are proud of you! The best is yet to come! Enjoy your sneak peek!

These past few weeks leading up to the 4th of July weekend have been busy, busy! Last Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Laney, a soon to be junior at Westview High School and hopefully…a future model rep for the Class of 2011I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Laney’s sister as one of the members of the Dance Companies at All Star Dance Academy in NW Portland. I should probably be in bed now getting geared up for tomorrow but I got home, the kids were in bed and my hubby took off for the movies, so, instead of catching up on some other work I should be doing, I decided to download images from my most recent shoot this evening and now, I must post!

Madison is one lucky girl! If I were turning 12, I would have LOVED to have had the birthday festivities she had today. Her mom, one of my fellow workout peeps, treated the girls to a makeover at Blush Beauty Bar and then they got to get their photos taken by me!!! More images coming but I couldn’t wait to get these posted tonight. Enjoy!

Just catching up on my sessions from last weekend so, bare with me. These girls came in and right off the bat, the oldest, had me at hello. Just look at these beautiful eyes! How can you resist these cuties? The entire family, whether they knew it or not, were totally entertaining during this entire shoot. Again, great light in the studio on this day! Just can’t get enough!

Facebook has to be, hands down, one of THE best tools out there today for networking and making connections. Sure, if I want to maintain my professional business connections, I’m also on LinkedIn and other networks but I have had the best opportunities to reconnect with old friends that I’ve lost touch with through Facebook.

In 2000-2001, my husband and I had the opportunity to live in Germany so I could get my MBA in 11 months through a program with Purdue University. We met some really cool people during our time there. And, while I may not communicate with them on a regular basis, it’s great that we’ve been able to make connections through Facebook. One couple friend in particular, Jen & Shane Holmes, have to be the coolest, laid back, intellectual and musically talented people we know. Shane used to make ‘mixed tapes’ for us when we lived in Hanover. Somehow the mixed tapes still sit nearby but are not played – mainly because we don’t have a tape player in our house anymore! Either that, or the kids got ahold of them and permanently ruined them.

Stage left – Facebook…Jen & Shane found me on Facebook the other day and the reunion has begun. Thanks to another friend who told me about 8tracks.com, Shane is back on the new, technology improved way of sharing his mixed tapes with me again
