Meet Jared, another one of my high school senior male clients who had me fully entertained for both his sports portrait session and his outdoor senior session. Jared’s mom and I go way back to my former ‘cubicle’ days. Jared and I started at the Bethany West CoastTae Kwon Do school where Master George helped me with figuring out some good angle and posing. With just a few weeks left to go before the 2011-2012 school season starts, things have gotten busier than ever for senior portraits in Portland! Alli, one of my Model Reps from Westview HS and Hannah, one of my Model Reps from Faith Bible Christian School had asked from the start if they could have their senior pictures taken together. Well, of course, why not? They also asked if there was any possibility that their other best friend from grade school, Sarah, could also be part of their portraits and get a few photos with them since she was visiting from Minnesota. And, of course, I obliged. Although they had planned their wardrobes and outfits they were going to wear in photos together, each of them had some piece of clothing missing from their outfits and in true fashion…they just rolled with the punches and made do with what they had. I had a blast with these girls and look forward to hearing more of their adventures as their senior year unfolds.

Just a few years ago I had the privilege of photographing our family friend’s wedding photos…and fast forward a few years later and they’ve blossomed into a beautiful family of four! This boys were up and at ‘em early in the morning but definitely full of energy and keeping me on my toes. I loved how laid back this session was and the interaction mom and dad were having with the boys. So much so that I phoned grandma and grandpa to get in on the action! I often hear, “I didn’t think I was going to be in the photos!” However, when is really a good time for family portraits. No regrets. Grandma and Grandpa looked great and now we don’t have to say, “we’ll get them next time.” Enjoy your sneak peek!

I feel like all my blog posts usually center around how lucky I get on sessions with the weather. However, not only did we get lucky with the weather, we pretty much hit the jackpot on entertainment during this portrait session. I thought having two boys to ham it up in front of the camera would be enough. But, not 5 minutes into our first location, Portland Mounted Patrol came trotting down the street and stopped to say ‘hi’ to us. I think my kids were jealous when they saw some of the images! To make it even more interesting, one of the officers addresses me by my first name….”uh oh…what did I do?” Turns out we are high school classmates! What a great surprise! The boys had a blast and got a chance to pet the horses. So…we go about our merry way, proceed to our next location….and…there just parked on the side of the street was a FIRE ENGINE! I really didn’t plan any of this but was probably just as excited as the boys but for a different reason! Anyway, I had a blast and I think the boys did too! Enjoy your sneak peek Jen!

Meet our 4th Class of ’11 Senior Model Rep from Westview High School, Jem! While the highs didn’t reach near 70 degrees on the day of Jem’s model rep shoot, we were still able to duck outside for a few quick outdoor shots in between rain last week. Jem brought an awesome wardrobe full of color and texture. We had a blast! She’s got quite a great summer on the horizon, interning for Nike in Manila! A natural leader, she’s also got a load of awesome opportunities ahead of her and her senior year hasn’t even started yet! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Everybody told me when we had our daughter how fast she will grow and all the little idiosyncrasies of the trials and tribulations of parenthood  will seem minimal compared to how fast that little baby will grow into a beautiful girl.
I never really thought about it until recently when I realized what used to be our baby boy is now about to turn 4 years old. This post isn’t meant to embarrass Kendra, but to really highlight the fact that Kendra is one of the main reasons I started getting into senior portraits. I can’t believe that I started photographing her when she was still in middle school and she is now approaching the end of her junior year and embarking on her final year of high school! Wow! Time really does fly! There will be more pictures of Kendra and the rest of my model reps to come in the summer months but I can’t leave this post without expressing a huge thanks to you for being an awesome and willing subject. And to Jill and Kevin, of course, for allowing her to do this. At some point, we will do a photo montage of my test shoots with Kendra over the past several years.

Last week was spring break for most of the schools in this area. So, just before everybody headed out to their favorite spring break location of choice, I was lucky enough to steal a bit of time away from them on a beautiful sunny Saturday for some model reps shoot. First up was Blake, coming well prepared with a good variety of clothes, shoes and accessories to boot! I am very fortunate to have a really great team of Model Reps to work with this year! Blake’s mom kept me well entertained, snapping away several iphone photos of me in action. If I get a chance between all the model rep shoots that I need to post, I’ll post a few of her snapshots of me on Facebook! Blake…there were so many good images, it was too hard to choose!

I recently had the pleasure of returning for Jack’s 6 month session. He’s another one of my lucky members of the Milestone Year Baby Plan. Somehow,  my timing of his sessions always seems to be off but he was still ready
and willing to ham it up for me even though he was ready for a nap by the time we started. He is such a cutie! I love watching how these little newbies change and grow over a year. It goes by way too fast!

The best thing about my past experience and my current career is that I get to keep in contact with people I used to work with and see them in a much different light….so to speak. This mom, Cheris, and I used to work together at Intel.
This family photo shoot was about capturing memories. Their oldest son is about to embark on a new and honorable experience by serving our country. I know the whole family is anxious to see these portraits before he leaves for boot camp
