A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a sibling of a former high school senior portrait client from Westview high school. While I’ve meet both of her sisters, Kwynn and her younger sister Kiah, I hadn’t had the chance to meet Keirra. And not only had I not met her before, but when she came in, I thought her sister, Kwynn was a friend. I think I must definitely be getting old because although it has only been a year, I thought Kwynn looked a little older and more grown up to the point that I didn’t recognize her! (I really did mean it when I said you look older – but in a good way!). I had a ton of fun tooling around the urban locations near the studio with the girls. Enjoy your sneak peek!

I’m a little behind on blogging this week…actually, I’m kind of behind on almost everything this week. It’s the last week of school, and with that, comes many ‘mini’ projects leading up to class parties and end of year actvities. And, if I planned better, I probably wouldn’t be behind. Alas, I don’t plan better but here I am. 

Last weekend I had a fabulous opportunity to hang out with Maia and her best friend Stephanie (and Maia’s mom too!). I had an opportunity to play at my friend Brian’s studio  and a blast both in and outside his studio. I had a blast and I hope you did too Maia! I should probably be in bed now getting geared up for tomorrow but I got home, the kids were in bed and my hubby took off for the movies, so, instead of catching up on some other work I should be doing, I decided to download images from my most recent shoot this evening and now, I must post!

Madison is one lucky girl! If I were turning 12, I would have LOVED to have had the birthday festivities she had today. Her mom, one of my fellow workout peeps, treated the girls to a makeover at Blush Beauty Bar and then they got to get their photos taken by me!!! More images coming but I couldn’t wait to get these posted tonight. Enjoy!

Over the past 24 hours, I have somehow either come down with a head cold or as has been suggested by some….allergies. I have was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and have now spent a better portion of my adult life here in Portland. I would love to be able to blame it on allergies but at this point, I’m not sure WHAT exactly it is. But whatever it is, I want it go go away!

Last Friday, somehow, miraculously between 2:00-2:50 pm, it stopped raining. In that amount of time when I met up with these girls we were able to snap off a few really cool shots. This was supposed to be a make up for the older of the two girls but I couldn’t pass up on the really cool colors that I was seeing between the two of them. Here’s your sneak peek! More coming soon!

That was her mom’s comment when we were 15 minutes into our photo session and this little charmer wanted nothing to do with the urban outdoors. So, when all else fails, go to where they feel comfortable! Believe it or not, this family sold their house a month ago – 2 days after it was listed! And, yes – they got their asking price!

So, when we talked about the photo shoot, I asked if there was anything particular about their current digs that they wanted to capture and remember with their daughter. A resounding no!Ok, so we start off at a location just outside of the Pearl district, and literally, not more than 20 minutes later, we were back at their condo in the Pearl. Lucky for us, it actually worked! “All I want is one picture of her smiling.” Well, Becky, I think we got it – and then some. I just had to include this last shot, even though it wasn’t the ‘last’ it was clear, where we were heading once this happened!

Wow…what a weekend! I didn’t actually check the paper or any of the publications on Sunday morning to see what the hottest temp was on Saturday, but I know we were expected to have triple digits on Saturday.

One of my good friends, Tanya and I had planned a little urban photo session with her son Carter for Sunday but a few last minute changes and we were out in the heat on Saturday afternoon in downtown Portland. Now I’m really glad we went out Saturday instead of Sunday. I think about the same time we went out on Sunday, thunder clouds had rolled in just as my family and I had packed it up from the pool and headed home. I am pretty sure we would have been out in clouds yesterday afternoon if we had kept to our original time.

Now, before you check out these photos of Carter, I need to put a little plug here for Tanya. Although, she doesn’t really need any help. We’ve known each other for a little over 8 years – just before this guy was born. Through our professional careers, Tanya and I have overlapped in our interests. She’s got some really awesome graphic design work that she’s been cranking out plus some other biz opportunities that she’s working on as well. Check out her site.
